About as "newbie" as you can get...LOL
Yahoo Message Number: 112151
We are jumping head first into RV'ing.
This Wednesday we fly to Oregon to buy a 1995 23.5 TK and camp on the way back to SoCal.
I have been "lurking" here for years and found an LD that I think will be a good starter for us and our camping adventures (not retired yet).

Anyway...please bear with me.
Here are some real basic questions.

Dry camping: Are there seperate 12V lights that run off the batteries?

How long will the batteries last if the heater is on?

How long to warm up hot water?

How much hot water capacity?
How long does propane tank last with moderate use including heat (obviously you only light the water and heater on an "as needed" basis)?
Do the house batteries get charged when hooked up to electricity source?
What is the difference between 30 and 50 amp? Should I be concerned?
Do I need an inline water pressure regulator? I realize I need to crack open a sink valve when turning on a water hookup. Any thing else.

My assumptions not knowing a thing yet:
You obviously only use the propane "as needed" including switching the frig over to electricity when hookup is available.
Only use the heater (to conserve battery) when needed to warm up the place. Do not leave on all night.

Thanks all! We are excited to finally be LD owners!!!

Any other tips are welcomed immensely.

Ted

No.  When you are plugged into shore power, the converter converts 120 VAC to 12 VDC.  All lights run off 12 VDC.

Don't know for sure, but maybe a day.  If you have shore power, use an electric heater.

You don't need to warm up hot water.  :-)  Cold water takes about 20 - 30 minutes to heat.

How much hot water capacity?
6 gallons

Depends on how long you are out, what you are using, and how big your tank is.  Anywhere from a few weeks to a few months.

Yes What is the difference between 30 and 50 amp? Should I be concerned?
Only big rigs with two air conditioners need 50 amps.  You don't need to be concerned, unless the only power available is 50 amp.  Then you'll need a 50 to 30 adaptor plug.

Pressure regulator is always a good idea.

Hi Ted & Carla - it's Jan & Max here - it's our LD you're buying  :)
We'll make sure you have the prerequisite water 'pressure regulator' and a 50amp - 30amp converter.
Max is going to fill the Propane and Gas tanks on Monday - the Propane should definitely see you all the way home.
Can't answer the ? about propane heat/batteries and dry camping - we have only used the heat when 'hooked up'. But I understand the 'blower' is a major battery drainer.
Yep, as Al said the water heater is 6 gal and takes about 20-30mins. All DC lighting and House Batteries charged by Shore Power or the Engine - but not, if I now understand it correctly, the Generator.
The LD has an 'extend-a-stay' fitted and we'll give you a filled 11 gal tank too. That way, if you do go berserk with the propane and run out

No, the generator charges the batteries too--it's just like being plugged into campground ("shore") power.
Here's a suggestion, Ted: read the Lazy Daze owner's manual from cover to cover as soon as you get the rig. Then read it again a month later, when you've had a little experience. The manual is well written and VERY complete. You'll get a good education from it! :-)
