Windshield Shroud availability?
Yahoo Message Number: 112111
Just picked up our new 24FD Red Modern Exterior, and I love it.
But an interesting side note for the 2010 changes: LD is no longer providing a windshield shroud. I know some here have derided it, but I feel its omission opens up a serious security issue. It is now not possible, when the LD is in storage or when it is parked for the night, to hide from outside prying eyes what "toys" you may have in the dash. The inside wraparound curtain does not cover that.
Is there a place to buy a standard Class C windshield shroud that does not involve precisely measuring those three front windows... such as the SunPro site requires?

David, the SunPro website was written for class A owners. Ignore it. Call them up and tell them you have a class C on a Ford E450 chassis. They will know exactly what to do--no measurements needed, because the E450 cabs are the same.
You'll get a one-piece windshield cover that will let light through, but provide completely privacy during the day. (At night you'll drop your cab blanket, or close your cab curtain, or use an EasyCurtain if so inclined.) Many of us have the SunPro windshield covers, and everyone seems to be delighted with them--I know I am!

Does anyone know a ballpark price for the Sunpro windshield bonnet?  I am curious.  We have the factory bonnet but it would be nice to have light and visability.  Thanks in advance.

David, the standard outside windshield cover that used to be standard on the LDs is available in the current Campers World catalog.  I haven't checked their web site.  We preferred the Easy Curtain, but used both for extra insulation during extreme heat or cold.

I notice on SunPro's website they offer 85% and 90% UV blockage covers. The 90% is $50 more. Is it worth it?

Personally, I wouldn't spend the extra money. The main goal here is privacy, and the 50% UV blockage cover accomplishes that nicely. :-)

--- David, a couple of weeks ago so, there was a discussion of the Easy Curtain; this is an inside windshield and side window cover that address your concerns:

FWIW, I have never used the outside windshield cover that came with my 2003; for me, it was awkward and too much hassle to put on. There are better options, IMO.

Wow, I'm confused.  Just ordered a 2010 24MB and Todd told me the "windshield boot" is definitely available.  It's on the order form he sent me - cost $120.  Am I missing something

Am I missing something in this thread? -- The vinyl outside wrap-around windshield/side window cover used to be standard equipment, i.e., no additional charge; apparently, it's now an offered only as an extra-cost option.

No. *I'm* the one who's missing something... a shroud.
Steve told me yesterday, "There is no shroud." "What?" sez I. "We're no longer including that because the company who had made ours in the past has raised their price too high. You can get one on your own at considerable less expense." There was nothing ambiguous about his statement and no mention that I could get it from them for $120.
Oh well... As I'm pressed for time before our trip (we're talking "pressed" as in hours!), I'm going to make a quick run out to CW and pick up a temp like our old ones. 45 bucks or something in that vicinity. Later, when we've returned, I'll order the thing from SunPro that Andy mentioned.

Go to message 106515 which describes my recent purchase of a SunPro windshield cover.  I would get 80% rather than 90% because I think the 90% blocks the view too much.  That said, it's a fine product and works as promised.
