Question about grills
Yahoo Message Number: 112085
Hi yall, I have seen and read a lot of discussion about grills, but none that answers my question. Hoping from some input from this good group. There are just 2 of us, so we want a small grill (also makes for easier storage). I recently added an Extend-a-stay to my propane regulator, to allow use of external tanks. That also gives me the option of running an external grill off the 3rd connector. I don't know enough about propane connection types to know how to pick the right one. I know many of the new grills use the little disposable propane bottles. So, my question is.......
Can anyone recommend a small propane grill that can be connected to a regular propane tank, such as the one you would find on the front of a popup camper? If it will connect to that, I believe it will connect to the Extend-a-stay.

Thanks in advance, yall.

I have a issue with running a BBQ off of the main propane tank.  My Weber has the screw on propane bottle now.  After cooking, if I rely on the BBQ on-off valve to shut off the propane and not unscrew the bottle, the bottle will be empty in the morning.  I would hate to have a larger tank attached.
I have learned not to  trust the valve.

Doesn't a larger bottle have its own valve to screw closed?  So you won't have to worry about losing the propane, right?

I'm awaiting a Stansport Propane Appliance to Bulk Tank Hose.

That should connect between my Weber Baby Q and a larger tank (hope to buy a 5 lb. tank to carry

Adding on:
I think that hose would ALSO work between your Extend-a-Stay (on your onboard propane tank) and the Weber Baby Q.
Other hose options are on Amazon, but I think that one would work for you.

As far as I know, any BBQ that can use the little canisters, can be hooked up to a regular propane tank.  At least we've always been able to hook our BBQs up to a regular propane tank.

We had an Extend-A-Stay put on our Lazy Daze and also used a Weber Baby Q off of it.  I don't do the barbecuing, so I don't know how Earl turned off the propane when done barbecuing, but we never had a problem with the BBQ "bleeding" propane and emptying the tank.

Hi Lee,
I picked up a Weber Baby Q that does the job for me.  Also have the extend-a-stay installed and all works fine.
The Weber, like most grills, has a built in regulator so requires a high pressure propane input source like both the larger refillable and small non-refillable tanks and bottles.  The extend-a-stay connection is also on the high pressure side of the LD propane tank so it all works.
I think that quite a few owners who post to this site own the Baby Q and the only thing I can find to wish for is a lower top that would let me store the grill in an outside storage compartment without removing the top (which is very easy to do - but doubles the storage footprint).
