Always covered, the 8.75R16.5LT "D" tires on our 87 are in visiblly great condition: no crazing, lot of tread left, etc., but, nearing 6 years old, require replacing. I'm considering COOPER's, $1285 out the door including Road Force Wheel Balance, Road Hazard, Nitrogen, etc. We rarely take long trips and I'm more interested in a "soft" ride. Any experience with Cooper's or suggestions? Thanks.

We have used Cooper M+S tires before, and I was happy with their handling. That tread pattern was rather noisy, though, and one did blow out after about 6 yrs use, so you are wise to replace now. We recently replaced our fronts with Firestone Transforce HT ones, when the Kumhos we currently have on the rear were no longer available. The Firestones are also M+S, and have an 'E' rating, and they ride smoothly and quietly. The 'E' rating does not appear to have made them harsh, and may give a bit of extra security. E's are usually harder to find in 8.75R16.5 size. We inflate them the same (60psi), which gives the same load capacity as the D's at that pressure.
