"I'm beginning to look into portable generators."

* Where am I going to store one or two 60-pound generators?
Out of sight in the Element.

* Where am I going to store the gasoline can?
In the now-empty factory battery box?

Quote
* How am I going to feel about going outside every time I want to start the generator(s)? How about at 7:00 a.m. on a chilly morning when I want power to run the microwave oven or coffeemaker?
No problemo...

Stove-top Espresso-maker and Frabosk Cappuccino Creamer means it's mandatory NOT to run out of LP - EVER! OR milk!

* How am I going to keep the generator(s) from being stolen?
Out of sight in the Element.

(Happened to me at Quartzsite a few years ago, despite a locked antitheft cable.)
Stay out of Quartzsite ;o)

* Would it make more sense to have an Onan generator installed in my rig
No.

No. It's fine. I just don't like the price.

Dear Paul -
I carry the Honda EU2000I in the rear of tow car, even though my LD has the built in Onan -
If you have not installed the side window vents on your Element do so - this will allow you to slightly leave a couple windows open for ventilation for the 2000I as well as a gas can -
After running into not being about to run gen-set in some places I got the Honda and a very heavy duty locking cable (kind used for ATV's) also keyed out lock just to be extra safe - I cable it to LD receiver hitch framing or to tow bar when hooked up to car
Now I can run the Honda with no complaints, it is a lot quieter than the gen-set, does not stink as bad and cools off very quickly for storage back into rear of toad -
FYI I lock the cable to the 2000I in rear of car to framing under back seats - if someone wants to steal it out of car their just going to have to work for it - better insurance claim 'o)IMHO

Enjoy your 2000I - I do 'o) Virginia, Jim and Cricket Starr and Midnight Roadie
