Space Center visit & camping.

Here are two campgrounds in Mims, Fl. that are both on State Rd. 46 just off I-95. These are less than 1/2 hour from the space center. I have stayed in the KOA  several years ago when visiting my son in Titusville. It is mostly shaded with big oak trees. The Seasons in the Sun is much newer & I haven't been there. If you are eating in Titusville and someone recommends seafood at "Dixie Crossroads Restaurant," don't go! Got food poisoning there once. There are plenty of restaurants around the I-95/State Rd. 50 exit to meet most taste.
That is 15 minutes from the visitors center.
There will be a security check similar to the airports at the KSC visitor's center. Make sure you have no knives, firearms, grenades, missile launchers, bazookas, in your pockets as you will have to take them back to your car across a 40 acre parking lot.  Get there early just before the ticket booth opens and get tickets for the "KSC Up Close" bus tour and take that immediately. It will take at least half the day and it is worth it. Spend the later part of the day back at the visitor's center (2 - Imax theaters) and lots of exhibits. There is more to see than can be done in one day. Plan at least 1-1/2 days to cover it all.
Plenty of room for  a few hundred RV's in the parking lot. Make the most of being there and have fun.

Thanks for the ideas, Mike. I'm thinking of getting the "KSC All Access Pass" which gets us into everything and includes the Bus Tour (although I didn't see the name, "Up Close"), Lunch With an Astronaut (more for kids, I suspect, but nevertheless "kids of any age"!), Discover KSC: Today and Tomorrow Tour, and then there's all the stuff to see on our own. Yes, we're giving it a day and a half, and the admission ticket is good for both days.
Sounds like a blast. And I'll be sure to leave the kitchen knives inside the RV :-).
