Dometic Refrigerator Extended Warranty

I have not been inclined to buy extended warranties but I did buy one from Dometic when my original warranty (2005) was drawing to a close.
The price for a three year full warranty (parts and labor) at that time was $229 and since it was being offered by the manufacturer and with some appreciation for the problems and the expense of the refer, I went ahead and made the purchase.
Recently, the unit began leaking yellow coolant residue onto the burner cover and I called my trusted service center (Eric's RV in Sequim WA) and gave them the information on the warranty and on the refer.  They congtacted Dometic on my behalf and Dopmetic shipped a new cooling unit in a timely manner.
Although the technician is well qualified and very experienced he was unable to get the cooling unit loose without damaging the liner of the refer.  He contacted Dometic and explained the situation.  Without hesitation, they shipped an entirely new Dometic Refrigerator/Freezer.
It is now installed and is working fine.  I never personally had any contact with Dometic at all.  I would say that it was $229 well spent since the cost of a new unit, installed, plus tax would run well over $1500.

I'm glad you had a good experience with Dometic warranties.
I did not. I paid over $3,000 for a new Dometic in our 1997 U-295 and within a year it started cooling poorly.

Dometic would not even honor its original manufacture's warranty.
I sold my 1997 U-295 and before I did it was side-by-side with our 1997 Lazy Daze last Summer in El Centro, CA. The Lazy Daze's 1997 Dometic cooled properly. The Foretravel's 2008 Dometic did not.

Of course, YMMV.
