The chair idea would still work as long as you be sure and measure the footprint and side to side spaces available...my desk idea takes up the other side of the original table, and most all of the space behind the driver seat. Your new shelves would take up a little bit of the place that I keep the chair in when not in use so I still have some floor space for Junah to move around in, but when I was looking at chairs, there were a lot of sizes and configurations to look at--I would assume you could find ones that would work.This chair is SO much more comfortable for me...I'm a little ...heavier..than was comfortable in those, and they had no real back/head support even tho they did swivel and tilt too.
