Better Oil Filter

This morning there was a local news station talking to a company that has developed a better oil filter.  It is called the Micro Green Filter and there web page that explains the technology, prices and so on is at www.microgreenfilter. com   I am all for running cleaner oil so as to extend the life of the engine and always change the oil and filter every 3,000 miles.  Especially when I have run the engine hot for a number of miles.  I was wondering if a person changed to a synthetic oil and used this filter that one might be able to extend the distance between oil changes considerably and maintain proper protection to the engine?  I am not much of a mechanic, so I wondered what some of the much smarter folks here thought!
 I noticed that they do not specifically have a listing for a E-450, however they do have the F-450 V-10 listed.  Would those filters be the same?

Of course, the word 'green' is always inserted by the PR people, not the engineers, and newsroom reporters are not experts, so don't take any such report without independent confirmation. The biggest concern is to follow the minimum recommendation for the expected type of service of the vehicle manufacturer. To be safe, only use an oil filter if Ford approves it for your vehicle, to avoid any warranty issues. I.e., contact Ford.

I do understand marketing and the current propensity for many to latch on to anything that carries "green" in the product name, but I don't know of any way to really know how efficiently and thoroughly the MicroGreen (or any oil filter) filters engine oil without actually *testing* the oil for particulates and contaminants at the recommended oil change interval. One can't judge the "cleanliness" of used engine oil by eyeballing it; engine oil that *appears* relatively clean may be degraded and contaminated with particulates. I didn't see any "head to head" oil cleanliness test results (and cost comparisons) after using this filter and comparison filters from a *credible, independent* testing agency; granted, I didn't do an in-depth search, but if I missed this, please post the link(s).
 Each owner will make his/her own decisions on  products and change intervals; my preference is to use the OEM Motorcraft oil filter (about $4.00) and Motorcraft 5w-20 semi-synthetic motor oil, changing both every 3000 miles.  But, as always, YMMV.  ;-)
