Best Route from Albany NY to Orlando leaving thur the 18th February 17, 2010, 12:43:38 pm Yahoo Message Number: 110186Hi, We are headed south tomorrow and looking suggestions on routing. I have done the I95 route before and it's OK but can have heavy traffic. I also did the inland route(harisburg, etc) but I have heard it can be tough in the mountains. Any suggestions would be appreciated. On a separate topic what is the best way to run fridge(is there one) both while traveling and boon-docking. Running the generator all the time doesn't make sense at all, but I'm not sure how much LP would be used.Thank youBob

Avoid New York and Washington around rush hours etc. You do not mention your rig, but if you have the Ford 6.8 V-10 those mountains will be a piece of cake. This time of year though ice and snow can be treacherous. If my memory serves me correctly there may be some stretches in Pennsylvania where expansion joints can make your ride a little uncomfortable.Edward Abrams

Thank you BobBob - Fridge does not use that much propane to keep it on - oven/furnace are the hungry ones - Running gen-set IMHO is not that cost effective - I leave my propane on except when fueling gas, always turn it off before pulling up to fuel, pull away to turn it back on - don't want to go up in a big boom - I also watch and check valve it not so tight I can't turn it when getting propane filled -Enjoy your travels - Virginia

But, once you fire up the furnace a few times it will suck up that propane pretty quick.Steve S. Lazy Bones & Jiggs

The engine's alternator will keep the batteries charged. Just remember to switch the inverter off when you stop for the night. Ken F. in NM
