Yahoo West 2010 Lake Cachuma March 25-27 Finally! January 11, 2010, 04:05:18 pm Yahoo Message Number: 109145After a long delay, we finally have a place and date for this year's Yahoo West GTG. It will be held at Lake Cachuma County Park, located in the hills above Santa Barbara, over the weekend of March 25-27, 2010. http://www.countyofsb.org/parks/parks05.aspx?id=13440> I have reserved the El Dorado group site, which includes 25 campsites. The cost will be $65 for three nights of dry camping. Toads are allowed and are included in the price. Since I will be paying for this up-front, all reservations will be 'non-refundable' but trades are OK, in case you are unable to attend. If you wait too long to get in the group site, individual non-reservable, first-come-first-served sites (both dry and with hookups) are available. The Park's representative said the park is lightly used during March and that sites should be available at the gate, especially if you show up mid-week. If you are interested in a site please email me ASAP at lw5315us AT yahoo DOT com for my address and telephone number. Please do not wait. The sites will go fast and I need to pay the total fee within three weeks. BTW, the original GTG site had been Lake San Antonio, in Monterey County. Joan Taylor made a special trip to inspect the group site and found it to be in poor condition. Since these sites were going to cost almost $40 a night, I canceled the reservation. Thanks Joan for reconnoitering San Antonio. Lake Cachuma is a much nicer campground with tons of stuff to do in the nearby vicinity. Spring will be in full swing. See you thereLarry

Reply #5 – January 27, 2010, 02:33:09 pm Yahoo Message Number: 109508As of today, there are only three campsites left for the 2010 Yahoo West GTG at Lake Cachuma. The Lake is located a few miles from Santa Barbara If you are interested in attending, time and sites are running out so reserve now. If there is interest, Joan Taylor have volunteered to give one of her famous "How to maintain your RV" classes. If you have not meet Joan, be prepared to meet a woman who knows her stuff. I also will be willing to talk about almost any technical part of maintaining, repairing or modifying your LD.See the message below for information on attending this event. http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/lifewithalazydazerv/message/109145>Larry

This is indeed exciting news, and definitely worth the price of admission. Not one but *two* awesome resources, in *person*! A dynamic duo for sure. And here I was simply looking forward to gabbing and eating and hootin' and hollerin' and meeting some pretty fine people! Thanks, Larry, for putting this together and for getting Joan on your "agenda."Lorna Santa Cruz http://uppity-woman.blogspot.com/
Re: Yahoo West 2010 Lake Cachuma March 25-27 Finally! Reply #7 – January 31, 2010, 03:12:19 pm Yahoo Message Number: 109641The 25 sites available for the 2010 Yahoo West GTG have all been reserved. It is still possible to attend by going to Lake Cachuma County Park, the weekend of the GTG, and getting a 'first-come-first-serve' campsite. Lake Cachuma does not have campsite reservation, except for the group areas. The park representative assured me that the park is lightly used in March and that sites (some with hookups) should be available, especially if checking in during the mid-week. Unfortunately, Lake Cachuma is a large park and your campsite may be situated a good distance from the group site. Try to get a site as close to the El Dorado Vista loop, as possible. You can also email me and be put of a cancellation list in case someone cannot attend.Larry

Guess I should have written it March 25-28.We will arrive Thursday and leave Sunday morning. For those who come earlier or want to stay longer, campsites inside the group area are available for individual camping whenever the group area is not reserved.Larry
