It will essentially be a second set of leads where you can grab it, and have enough for your dogs. Mine hangs by the door - just opposite the crates. Quick to grab.HelenQuoteThanks Linda. I didn't know this. So after giving it some thought (I'm not the panicking sort), I know I could flip open all 6 crates, yell "come", and be out the door in 10 seconds with all six dogs. I don't think I would have the time to grab the emergency bag (including all important 'stuff') by the door, but I won't know that until I would have to. I do need to think of how to grab their box of leashes as I exit. That is very important!!! Consisting of a solid fuel rocket, conveniently mounted below the LD's existing roof escape hatch, a drogue chute to limit terminal velocity, and a big red button for the dash, the EPES system will egress all pets within 20 milliseconds. PS (Pet Stretch) remains a minor problem, but we are working to get the bugs out. PSF (pet survivablily factor) looks promising except for wiener dogs. Oh, and VCS (Vanishing Chihuahua Syndrome), which remains a recurring problem - - and we have no idea why. We have applied for a government grant and are trying to find more test volunteers. If you have a Chihuahua volunteer, please contact us right away - - this week only there will be no charge for testing your Chihuahua.bumper "Black Ice? Everyone says they could fly with their ears! Perhaps the ears would be their 'steering' mechanism! Thanks for the grin~!HelenQuote Not to worry, my EPES (Emergency Pet Egress System) should be ready for market soon. Re: pets in motorhome--more hints for safety Reply #29 – January 07, 2010, 01:45:36 pm Yahoo Message Number: 109056I travel to dog shows on a regular basis in the past years. Sometimes with as many as 10 dogs. When traveling in van or LD I have leather buckle collars with name plates attached. Emergency contact numbers and my cell number. No dangling tags to get caught in anything and every collar says the same thing. Aladar Beagles, phone numbers. I hook each leash to the front of the crate. That way if in a wreck and stuff scattered, the leashes will be with the crates. I also put slip leads with each snap leash. That way if I have time I can also put a slip lead (choke collar type) on each dog and prevent any from slipping buckle collar over head in times of panic. I use the seat belt holder and brackets to tie down and racket strap down the crates. I use only the airline plastic crates, since research has shown that wire crates come apart and can actually impale and injure the animal in a wreck. I have put information on a flash drive that is also a key chain. My name, emergency contacts, my health allergies and medical problems. and info on Vet for dogs. I do not put any personal information such as SS, address etc, in case of identity theft. In a wreck your phone, purse etc may be scattered but almost 100% of the time the keys are still in the ignition switch. This was hint from patrol officer.I try to drive smart and safe. Hope this helps.DarleneAlaDar Beagles www.aladarbeagles.com
Re: pets in motorhome Reply #30 – January 07, 2010, 03:31:04 pm Yahoo Message Number: 109059Helen, that is a great idea to chain gang leads together and have ready. I had thought of something like that but I like your idea better. So now I will go buy another set of leads just for this purpose. My fur kids always have on their "traveling clothes" anyway when traveling (collars w/ info tag). And Darlene, you also had a great idea of putting info on a flash drive on your key ring. That would also take care of anything we wanted someone to know if we died in a crash and our fur kids didn't. Re: Loss of MB on highway. Reply #32 – January 08, 2010, 10:52:41 pm Yahoo Message Number: 109076Good grief. My sister and I traveled that same highway on 7 December, it was just beginning to snow. We left GJ that morning and made it to Salina, UT, that evening - the NEXT day driving across UT to NV was even nastier. Its good to know we are traveling in such a safe, well built, vehicle, and its very good to hear a wreck story with a happy ending. So glad you weren't hurt.
