Roof top heat/air January 03, 2010, 04:26:39 pm Yahoo Message Number: 108946During our latest trip to San Ysidro I tried the ceiling Heater /air conditioner. When I slide the thermostat to warmer it was very sticky. I didn't get any heat. If I spray something onto the thermostat contact area to clean them, would that possibly fix the problem? If so, what would that something be? Any body have that problem? Be well. Dale.

A/Cs as old as yours usually weren't connected to a wall-mounted thermostat. The thermostat usually controls the furnace (heater). Can you give us more information/be more descriptive.Chris
Re: Roof top heat/air Reply #2 – January 03, 2010, 05:42:30 pm Yahoo Message Number: 108950Chris, Yes, I mean the heat strip which is connected to the air conditioner. On the controls of the A/C (not on the wall) there is a sliding thermostat. It may never have been used

We discussed contact cleaners a few weeks ago. Short answer: DeoxIT from Caig Laboratories.Andy Baird http://www.andybaird.com/travels/

Re: DeoxIT Reply #7 – January 03, 2010, 09:10:30 pm Yahoo Message Number: 108959"I assume you would suggest the contact cleaner rather than the general cleaner?" There are really only two kinds to be concerned with. Regular DeoxIT is intended to clean and preserve old, corroded contacts. DeoxIT Gold is meant to be applied to new contacts, to keep them from oxidizing. I find regular DeoxIT most useful. The DeoxIT products look costly if you consider them on a cost-per-gram basis, but as I mentioned not long ago, a very small amount goes a long way, so in use they're actually pretty inexpensive.Andy Baird http://www.andybaird.com/travels/
