My sincere greetings!

We all know what a wonderful group of folks Lazy Daze owners are.  Most of you are extremely helpful with sharing your knowledge and experiences so the rest of us can strive to be just the same way (once we learn as much as we can about the ins and outs of all the LD 'inner workings').  So I just want to wish you all a most blessed Christmas celebration and the best of the New Year.

Sincerely,

Judy Williams

Amen to that, Judy. My wife and I are suffering from four seasons without an RV. We bought an old SOB (actually a 1985 Jamboree Spirit, Class C) to see if we liked the lifestyle. It turned out that particular model was an early orphan, only made by Jamboree for one model year. I think the basic design became the UltraStar Class A and the Class C equivalent whose name escapes me (but it wasn't the Transtar).
BTW, we love the lifestyle and can't wait to be able to afford to get back to it.
The old barge had a carburetor-equipped Ford 460, had leaky manifolds ($800 to fix), bad brakes due to fluid boiling off ($450 to fix) and a host of water ingress issues.  Carburator is a French irregular verb that means "leave well enough alone". Any furutre rig will either be diesel or have electronically managed engine systems.
The previous owner of our ols rig was a snowmobiler. He and three friends used the RV as a base during their winter activities. The window drains were designed to let water hitting from the outside drain away, but when four big males dry off their snowmobile gear inside, it doesn't drain outside, but down into the walls. We had some significant water damage issues to fix too.
With the brake problem and the inherent limitations of carbs, we were getting 7 mpg at sea level and less than 5 mpg in the mountains. There's a lot of mountain terrain  in Wasington. We figured that each night camping was costing around $420, so we finally decided to get out from under.
We're still working on being able to afford another rig. I'd like a 32' Class A DP, since I've driven transit, but DW is scared of anything bigger that our 26-footer and would prefer the more car-like van cab of a Class C, so we're looking at 26.5 RK or RB Lazy Daze. I won't tell her about the extra 6"!
I'm hoping finances will permit the purchase of about a 10-year old 26.5 RB or RK LD for the 2012 season. Those floor plans work best for two senior citizens and two Labradors - no corner bed. We'll probably replace the cab-over bunk with storage and a TV installation, since were not agile enough to get up there and too claustrophobic to sleep there!
We hope we can get a reasonable deal nesxt fall. LDs are scarcer than hen's teeth around here!

Frank:
Keep up to date with this LD group...and keep browsing the LDs for sale section within it...and consider, after all you've paid for your previous RV experience, going a bit further afield and consider having someone (such as Tim Pease) completely inspect any used LD in California that you are serious about...Tim comes highly recommended by many folks on this group...and the rest just haven't needed his services. He was the Production Manager of Lazy Daze for many years before heading out on his own and I can't think of anyone who could give you a better inspection of a specific LD than him.
Used LDs seem to be more common in California, but they do crop up just about anyplace.

Keep focused and do join us...we've got the best there is in RVs...
...and as we sit here in San Juan Bautista, CA...one of our fellow park visitors hailed The Pilot tonight to tell him they're on their way to look at the Kodiak at The Mothership...currently owning a Phoenix Cruiser and have experience with other RVs...research and experience leads them to the Lazy Daze door!
