I have a 2005 RK. I am here in northern Utah and have to stay here till December.  Please give me pointers on keeping my LD from having freezing pipes.  How do I live in my LD in cold weather?  I am in a park with full hook ups.  I appreciate all comments.

Charles, I spent part of last winter in NJ.  I had a week of below- freezing weather with temps as low as 5 deg.  My fresh water and feed lines were fine.  My waste tank dump valves froze but even the waste tanks, uninsulated, were not frozen as far as I know.  Essentially, all systems worked until I had to dump.  That was a real problem, and I did not manage to dump my grey water tank until I reached Virginia Beach, VA and sat there for a day.
Inside, all I did was maintain a comfortable room temperature, and I made sure that the doors and access panels were open so that warm air could get to the piping.
For the future, I have wrapped the dump valves and drain pipes with heating elements that I can plug in if needed.
Best of luck.

I haven't experienced northern Utah weather in December, but if you just have cold snaps to the lower 20s with temperatures breaking above freezing after a two or three days, then you will be alright especially having full hook ups allowing you to depend on keeping the inside warm.
We fulltime in north Texas and have cold snaps December-February. The key is "snaps" and not having sustained sub freezing temperatures. Drops to the teens are easy to handle.
The most extreme we've been in was a trip to the Chicago area with about four days with lows sub zero F. The holding tanks froze. I had a heart stopping moment when the water from the hot water heater wouldn't flow. Finally got it going with no damage.
That seems to be the weak link in our midbath, the line coming from the hot water tank. We would probably freeze before the fresh water tank under the sink freezes.
Hope that helps, My feel is that you will be alright, but I wouldn't try to push it all winter unless you want to drain the grey/black holding tanks and use the campgrounds facilities, which seems to me to be a major pain.

Good luck with the weather.

Dear Charles,
Here are a few pointers we picked up from some long time Rver's and have worked wonderfully for us depending on degree of cold and we see many doing same -
I got most everything used from good ole Wal-mart, Lowe's and Home Depot -
To protect your tanks you can hang a mechanics drop light with a 40 watt blub and drape if nothing else but heavy duty trash bags cut/taped together up under around the rear but not touching the lamp - I used electric zip ties and rocks/gravel to keep it from blowing around and used cheap sheet painters plastic drop clothes - was sure tacky but saved our souls - I ran it from in front of rear tires all the way around rear - use your imagination
There is also electrical heat cord strips which can use and they can be wrapped around the sewer hose and water hose - You do not want the tank fittings to freeze, thou some may no think it matters, it is not a good thing -
Water hose - lots use the cord strips and also put the foam hose insulation on which is available easily - be sure to use tape to hold on to water hose - Also at night put up a couple water jugs, set in shower or on counter and turn water off at meter, covering it good & unhook from rig - Even though our fresh tanks are enclosed just better to take the extra step and not have lots of water on board, brings cold into rig too -
The most cold your going to get inside is going to come from the cab around from under the dash and around the cab doors - I cut sheets of reflectux to go from floor to top of cab for each door then I took a sleeping bag and draped it over the dash and tucked it around in/around to lay on floor of cab - anything you can stuff up there will really help stop the draft -
Get a roll of Reflectux from either Lowes or Home Depot and cut oversize of each window, vents and I put a long section in the door well to stand up there as seems cold comes in around door & I hang a blanket/throw over the door too - put this up to keep cold out - during day we take down on side which wind is not blowing on so we are not in a cave -
Also Remember to vent as our lovely LD's build up condensation easily - dripping escape hatch - Seem's Andy has a great solution for that dripping nightmare and it works perfect -
Know this is long but do hope have helped with some ideas - We've not been in near the cold of northern Utah, but back in Tennessee and Atlanta for holidays the cold there is a wet cold and penetrates - enjoy your dry cold -

When we went to the winter olympics at SLC, we stayed the week in the Cherry Hill CG in Kaysville, north of SLC.  We had all the utilities available.  The only problem we had was when I wanted to dump before leaving, my valves were frozen.  I used my wife's hair drier to warm up the valves and was finally able to dump.  Temps were in low 20's but sunny.  This was in a class A with at least some internal heat going to the internal tanks.  Heat tape and insulation should solve the valve problem, I expect. Jack in cold but sunny Reno
