Storage compartment doors.
Yahoo Message Number: 105194
My project over the next weekend is to reinstall the rubber seals that are hanging loose.  I have a 1996 LD and the original rubber seals are comming loose.  Is there a preferred mastic I should consider that will affix the seal back in its correct position?  Also while I am at it, I would like to install the metal finger loop that will help open the compartment doors.  On the new LD's and other makes there is a metal finger hold that is mounted with the lock assembly.  Right now I am opening a sticky door by puting side load on the key as I am opening the door.  Does anyone know where I would get the finger holds? Thanks ahead of time.  Ed

3M Super Weatherstrip and Gasket Adhesive is the stuff body shops use when replacing or reattaching loose rubber gaskets. I have used it for forty years with success.

Ed,
Measure the width and thickness of your seals and head to your local RV parts store.  Mine are 3/16" X 3/8" and I purchased a roll of Trim-Lok at Camping World.  It is easy to install and provides an excellent seal.
The only length that size came in was 50' so I have enough for a long time.
I don't remember seeing the finger holds but they are probably available where the door locks are sold.

I dealt with mine when they were still half-way on.  I used double-side tape (the foam kind, of unknown brand).  I expected it might be a temporary fix, but they're still on with no separation after two (maybe even 3) years of light use.

Hey Ed...I just saw one of those metal finger holds/pulls with integrated lock on www.tweetys.com http://www.tweetys.com/>  .   Try them.
