The antenna wiring comes out just below the radio. The GPS unit you get should have a built in antenna as well as an exterior connection. The real advanage is that you can put the unit on the dash or where the cup holders are which is easier to see without the glare of the sun. My Garmin GPS is portable so I can use it in another vehicle.Art
