Replacing Toilet Need Help!
Yahoo Message Number: 104303
In the process of replacing old Sealand Traveler toilet for a Thetford model.  I have removed the old toilet and now need to turn the flange to match Thetford bolt pattern.
I have searched but unable to find any posting that described how the flange comes out to turn it.  I have removed the 8 screws and I'm able to get putty knife under flange to break sealant but not sure if the flange screws out of hole or just lifts out.  I have done many stupid things in my life and trying to keep from doing something stupid now.

I have posted a picture in photo section of my flange as it is now.

Any help is appreciated.

I wonder, after looking at the photo, if the flange is glued to the top of the holding tank. Some flanges screw onto the holding tank so try twisting the flange to see if it is threaded.
What does the new flange look like?
You may need to chop the old flange away…sounds like fun way to spend the afternoon! If you do, be careful not to damage the top of the holding tank where the new flange will be glued.
Let us know how it works out.

It's glued either to the tank or to the floor--I forget which.

That was the conclusion Mike Sylvester came to when I asked him to replace my Sealand toilet with a better Thetford model back in 2006. We ended up agreeing to leave the Sealand in place.
If you go ahead with the job, I'd suggest stuffing a wad of rags tightly into the sewer pipe just below the flange. That way when you break out the flange, you won't have plastic chunks falling into your black tank, where they might damage your dump valve.

Well I have figured out how to change from a Sealand toilet to a Thetford bolt pattern without removing the existing flange.  I will post pictures etc. tomorrow as time permits.
