Monica,
If you still have the old cable but it has stopped working, try out Radio Shack. I broke a wire in the cable to my Garmin 2610 a couple of years ago, and a resourceful guy at the Flagstaff store was able to Jerry-rig it back to life. He used 3 or 4 adapters, couplers, and wire. It looks like hell, but it still works.

I happen to have a spare power cable/speaker that I'm going to send Monica, so we can consider this case closed. :-)
