I'm curious what others do about bad weather.  For the second time in a month, where I am we had a Thunder Storm warning with winds possibly up to 60 MPH.  The first time, in Dillard GA, I decided I didn't want to be in my RV if 60 MPH winds hit my RV so I went to the Pavilion/rest rooms/storm shelter.  Nobody that I talked to even knew we were in a warning.  Yesterday, in Tuscon, AZ, we had a Thunder Storm warning with once again winds up to 60 MPH.  I stayed in the motorhome this time.  As part of my set up procedure, I set up my weather radio.
If it was a hurricane, I would probably just pack up and leave.  But these quick thunder storms and tornadoes don't give you much of a warning.
So what would you do in 60 MPH winds?  If nothing, what type of winds would it take to make you leave.  Can a 60 MPH wind do much damage to our RVs?
By the way, I'll be at the mothership next Monday dropping of my LD for a repair.  During the time it's in the shop, I'll visit San Diego.  While I'm not much of a city person, they have a great zoo and wild animal park.  If anybody has any other suggestions of things to do in the area, let me know.

visit the Japanese markets (3 of them) at the SW intersection of 163 and Balboa.  From 163 go west on Balboa to the light, make a U turn and first right.

Lots of gadgets for small Japanese homes that suit RVs
Good Chinese, Japanese and Korean food places in this area (Kearny Mesa) If interested I can recommend some offline to you
Will there be kids with you?  There is the Midway carrier on the port.

Visit Old Town, Coranado Island.
Some of the Lovely Beaches Tour a Navy ship if there any open.
Look over the Purse Seiners(Tuna Fleet) if they are in port.
Mission Park
I am sure I am forgetting something as its been 20 years since I did anything butt fly in rent a car and run up North.
I don't spell so good either.

For Italian food try the restuarants on India Street. The brand new elephant exhibit at the SDZoo is reportedly worth visiting the Zoo or the city all by itself.f by Old Town you include the Gaslight District you  are right on.---

Pam, I have had my 2008 MB in cross winds of 50 driving in Kansas and in 60 mph crosswind gusts in Florida al Cape Canaveral.  In Florida, it was on hydraulic levelers which add stability.  In both cases you could feel the wind but I never felt that the rig was in danger of overturning.

Pam,
I drove in 50+ MPH crosswind gusts in Minnnesota and the LD held the road well though I have since decided I will park the next time.
I have spent a lot of time camping with a brother in western Oklahomna (saw the Vortex 2 crew several times) and if the storm coming in had winds predicted at 70 or more MPH I would move my LD to point into the wind.  Driving 70 mph with a headwind is not uncommon so if I am facing into just about any kind of a wind I am not concerned.  These storms also bring hail and having experienced a heavy barrage of hail between golfball and baseball size I can report that the LD lost its outside light and shattered the AC shroud but other than that all I had was a pocked roof.
The only sorm component that really concerns me is Tornados.  If a warning is issued.....I get out and find the sturdiest place possible to hide.

Hi Pam,
I would private message you, but you posted from the web with pstravus So what would you do in 60 MPH winds?  If nothing, what type of winds would it take to make you leave.  Can a 60 MPH wind do much damage to our RVs? [/quote] Parked, unless a tree or a tree branch falls on you, no more damage as driving down the highway at 60. I will not drive in winds of over 30.

In San Diego, we enjoyed touring the USS Midway, Balboa Park and watching the ships come in and out from Point Loma. The zoo takes two days.

Cheers, Don
