Used LD in the West?
Yahoo Message Number: 103470
Hi, y'all-
The past three months I've been looking for a small, used RV and have found Lazy Daze's 23.5' to be top of the list... but small ones are hard to find! Online I've checked every nook and cranny, including this group's list.
It seems strange that I don't see many for sale in the western states (I'm in northwest Arizona). Anyone out there have a suggestion? Ted & Liz in Massachusetts already have a contract on theirs so I missed that boat. (Congratulations!)
I'd like to find something no more than six or seven years old in excellent shape and relatively low mileage, but not too new because of pricing.
Is that asking for the world? Surely there is one just waiting for me out there! Cathy

Good luck, Cathy.  When we bought our 26.5' I flew to ID and then OR to find the one we finally bought.  Many of the sellers would be willing to meet you half way, or if you found one not in AZ (which is where we live) you could have someone check it out and if OK then figure how you would go get it.  When we got ours, my husband flew up a few days after me, we gave the seller the check, outfitted it and then drove it back to AZ.  Nice trip to get used to it before taking bigger ones.

Thanks, Linda.
This has really been an education. I'm willing to travel to it, but the checking-it-out is an issue when they are so far away.  Risk-taking is my middle name but this is my life savings... trusting in Jesus...

Cathy,
I went to WY from CA for my 23.5' TK.  Although the "home" part of the inspection is difficult unless a member in this group or a qualified inspector is willing to do it, the "motor" part of the inspection can be done by a local Ford service center.  I paid about $150 for an inspection that included engine & transmission diagnostics.
I'd suggest you look at '03 models and earlier since that's when the 23.5 footers went to the E450 chassis.  My guess is that original owners of such a recent model LD will probably have good maintenance records for you to inspect via fax or pdf.
23.5' models are hard to find anywhere.  It took me 2 yrs. to find mine.  Determine what you're willing to spend for specific vintage/model/mileage/accessories/etc. and get your finances lined up so you can move quickly if another one like Ted's comes up.
I don't know if this one is still available, but you could probably get Tim Pease to inspect it since it's in So. Cal.: http://www.rvtraderonline.com/find/listing/2003-LAZY-DAZE-2003-LAZY-DAZE-M-23-1--2-95029236

Good luck, Andrew

Andrew, did you mean to write "03 models and later"?

Thanks, Andy.  You're right, but I had to think about it for a couple of seconds.  [:">]   Maybe I should have said 2003-present models.
