How do you get in and out of King bed on 26.5 MB ?
Yahoo Message Number: 103298
This may have been answered but am having trouble navigating the ite and haven't found answer. We were really interested in using 26.5 MB  to take a year traveling the country with our 9 year old son when it hit me-how do you get in and out of a bed with walls on all (3) sides? It seems like if (2) folks are using the bed if the one on the inside needs to get up the other must to. As our (9) year old visits us sometimes this seems like it would exasperate the problem. Any input would be appreciated.

Thank you

Bob

"It seems like if (2) folks are using the bed if the one on the inside needs to get up the other must too."
That can be a problem if one or both of you get up several times a night, as many of us older folks do. If the need only affects one of you, that person can sleep on the "outside" (rear) of the overcab bed and get up without disturbing the other. But if you both have to get up from time to time, you're going to wind up climbing over each other.
For that reason, many couples prefer to sleep in the back, where the couches can be made up either as two twin beds or one king-sized bed, and put the kid(s) in the "upstairs bedroom." Kids generally love this arrangement, because the overcab is a cozy nook all their own.
Also, remember that the dinette can be made up as a small bed, giving you a third possibility. You wouldn't want to sleep there, but your 9-year-old would be fine. The overcab bed is more convenient, though, because it's always made up and ready.

Sorry, I may have misinterpreted your question. If you're asking about the bed in the rear, the answer is that if you sleep with your bodies aligned with the coach's fore-and-aft axis, one person can get up without climbing over the other. And of course if you set up the couches as twin beds rather than as one king-sized bed, there's an aisle in the middle, making egress easy. :-)

If I were to make *each* of the couches in my 23.5' TK into a "twin", the layout would become a "king" bed by default and eliminate any "passageway". ???

We never had a problem with this in our 2003 MB - and we slept head on curb side feet on driver side. The bed is so wide you can crawl around the "foot" of the bed. But the super-King MB bed is NOT to be missed.  NOTHING like it.  Not even our stick house King or our new $1,000 IKEA Queen foam mattress in our Park Model is its equal.
We now sleep over the cab in our 1997 RB ("only" queen size). Kathleen climbs over me to get down - but then I'm usually awake anyway.
We replaced LD's RB "ship ladder" with a $49 3 step kitchen step ladder from Lowe for a safer egress from the over cab bed. It's a twofer - Kathleen also uses the step ladder to see in the microwave and reach the high cabinets.
As far as the 9 year old goes, put him parallel to the long dimension of the MB at the "foot" of the super-King. You might wake him when crawling around to egress but he'll probably go back to sleep quickly.

best, paul
PS> Affectionate couples might find climbing over is more of a plus than a minus. We do, but then we're still young at 74/80 :o)

When we were looking at this model as well as currently looking at the shorter Twin King, we determined that we'd sleep in the rear set up as twins and our boys would take the cabover bunk.  Making the rear into a king seems like more trouble than it's worth.

True, that would be the case if you pulled both couches all the way out. But remember, the 31' Twin Bed model has two rear beds with an aisle in the middle. You can duplicate that arrangement with a midbath: simply remove the backrest cushion from each couch, but don't pull the couch out. I've found (and a guest who tried it agreed) that the couch is quite comfortable to sleep on this way... and it gives you an aisle in the middle, just as with a 31' TB.

Thank you all for your input. I think what I really need to determine is if  the Lazy Daze King made by the two sofas is the size of a house type King or larger? We currently have a King

Maybe I'm a bit slow, but I can't understand the original problem (g)! Even with the couches pulled out and made into one super king size bed, it's easy to get up without disturbing the other person.
We sleep head to the back of the coach and simply crawl on or off over the foot of the bed. Crawling is easy and I'm an expert . . . I started doing it 64 years ago.

definitely want to sleep in the same bed as my wife, and our son when he joins us sleeps parallel to us. If I slept on the outside and my wife and son slept inside if the Lazy Daze king was bigger maybe the could get out without disturbing me, but I wake frequently anyway so maybe I am making more of this than there is .
Sounds like you are still missing the point. Rotate 90 degrees from your image, and that is how one sleeps in this bed. All heads at the back of the coach - all feet pointed toward the cab.

Thanks for the clarification. I wasn't sure of the size and sleeping orientation of the bed.

You have 4 options as far as "sleeping orientation", just pick a compass point!  You can even sleep with your heads towards the cab end if you want to sit up in bed in the AM and enjoy the views.  Each sofa is 6 feet long and the LD inside width is 8 feet or so, which is why it seems logical to most folks to sleep crosswise.  When I use my rear sofas as separate  twin beds, I pull them out halfway so the bolster can slide down against the side wall, serving as a bumper for the otherwise narrow "twin" bed.
Most kids get a huge kick out of the having a private domain in the overcab bed, and with a MB you'd also  have  the option of the  dinette bed..  When I travel with my grown daughter, we do as Tina does, and leave the king bed made up into a cozy lounge area (we usually don't spend much waking time in the RV).
For bedding, IMHO  it's much more manageable to make up each side with its own fitted sheet and then pull them together, rather than crawling around and wrestling with a king-size sheet.

That may be true, but if it's made up as a super king, you can never get up on the wrong side of the bed.

That didn't seem logical to me . . and I try my best to be logical like "most folks". In my '05 MB, the pax side sofa is a hair over 6' 6" long, so it suits my 6' 1" height just fine. The driver side sofa is a wee bit shorter at 6'1", and that suits my 5'6" wife nicely. We never considered sleeping crosswise . . . heck, that'd mean someone would have to climb over the other to get up in the middle of the night (g). Besides, the LED reading lamps I installed on the back window side valances would be out of position for the one sleeping crosswise nearest the front end.

Having an older TK, my sofas are just 72 and 74 inches. I guess we'd have to take a poll or something, I had the impression  that crosswise was more popular. My son-in-law-to-be who's 6 feet 4 prefers crosswise! Tina: Yes, I use two sets of full-size (double bed) sheets, though that might not work with sofas much  longer than mine.

I vote for "crosswise".  Although bumper is right about the PAX side being 6'-6" long, my 6'-3" frame feels confined unless I move toward the middle, where the wall ends.  My wife Cathy (at 5'-10") feels the same way on the shorter driver's side, so we meet
