Transmission crud in an 06
Yahoo Message Number: 102678
We have a 2006 LD with 16,000 miles. I was checking the fluid level today and when I pulled out the dipstick I noted what appeared to be blackened debris on the stick end. The fluid was nice and pink and the proper level.
The dipstick is not flat but is a thin piece of metal ending in a white fatter plastic piece with the markings on it. It was on this white piece where the debris showed up.  My theory is that the debris is from fluid which splashed into the tube and burned from engine heat. I tried moving the stick in and out of the tube without getting it all the way to the bottom and got debris on the end.
The stick was fully seated in the tube before I pulled it out the first time.

Has anyone else seen this.

If I do have is there a good Ford dealer in Salt Lake City?

Jim
