Are plastic/wood bases advised/needed to disperse leveler feet load

We have just installed Bigfoot levelers.  Are the feet adequate to support the load or are wider bases advised on gravel/dirt to disperse the load properly?  Thanks--Ted

I can't say what is "required", but I use 2" think pieces of oak under my HWHs, even on pavement. While I don't think I would need them on concrete, I have found macadam to sometimes be soft enough the levelers dig in. So I use them on blacktop, gravel or dirt. The feet on mine are about 4" square.

YMMV

The feet are more than adequate as is. However, the throw, that is the amount of lift, is rather limited. As I recall, about 9" in the back & 7" front, or perhaps it's the other way around? Don't recall. At any rate, in order to get level on all but the most level of sites, you need to put the boards under the pads in order to get more lift. I always put two 2" x 8"'s under each foot before I started the leveling process. That gave me the 7" to 9" "basic" lift plus another 3"'s.
That was on my 2000 MB.
