Charge controller question February 22, 2009, 09:41:14 pm Yahoo Message Number: 99533We have a 2008 24' front dinette with one solar panel from the factory. We are keeping the coach in our barn, and it doesn't get below 50 degrees at night in there, and we have it plugged in to keep the batteries charged. Recently we took it out for a ride, and when we got back I plugged it in, and the green LED that normally pulses when the battery is charged is not lit. The panel shows 13.85 volts and everything seems to work electrically inside the coach. I checked the circuit breaker inside the batter compartment and it seems to be okay...it didn't seem to be tripped. I haven't located the other circuit breaker that the owner's manual shows on the inside of the coach. I suspect a bad LED but that is not very common in my experience. Any thoughts? Thank you.Larry Jones Monument, Colorado

Larry Jones Hi Larry, I am guessing that you are talking about the green LED that is on the solar charge controller. Or are you referring to the monitor that is part of the range hood? I believe the green LED on the charge controller is only illumintated when the solar panel is actually receiving some light. I have a cover on my rig for the winter. Even with the cover on the rig, the LED on the charge controller will glow a little; but when there is snow on top of the cover, the LED is dark because there is no light at all reaching the solar panel. Your rig, being stored indoors, is probably not getting any light on the roof so the LED is not lit up. Hope this helps.Steve K.

I talked with Todd at Lazy Daze by email and I guess I never noticed that the light was not lit when the coach is in the barn. As I told him, I need to relax and stop looking for trouble. Thanks for your input.Larry
