Used selling prices

Anyone bought or sold their LD within the last few months?  I am guessing there are some great buying opportunities right now, and am curious if there is actual $$ confirmation of this. Asking vs actual prices would be quite informative, along with a brief description of the unit (i.e. 03 26.5 RB, 30k mi, solar, asking $xxx, sold for $xx).

As long as you are moving up or newer, you should come out ahead, since prices are depressed more on costlier newer ones than the older one you want to sell.

We just bought 3 weeks ago:
1983 22¹ RL, 68k mi, solar, no gen, CB included, everything works fine except TV antenna manual lift.  Asking 6,700, sold for 5,600.

Congrats on your purchase.  How do you like the solar system?  How many watts?  I'm thinking of getting solar for mine.

Bought in Nov 2008, 82 LD FL,  62k mi, no solar, no gen. P/S leak, fixed with a $20 hose.  Asked $3,300, bought $3,000.  Have put in more than 4,000 miles since.  It's not perfect, but I love it.

I looked at 2006 23.5' TK,  sold for $51,000.  Edmunds said about $45k.  Sold early Jan 2009.
Usual standard items plus insulated tanks and TV installed were the only options I can remember.

Hi Sam and others,
The solar system is made by SES Applied Power, Willits Operation, 111 N Main St., Willits, CA 95490 707-459-9496.  I¹ve been unable to locate them on the web thus far.  I¹m not sure yet which system I have.  The instruction manual I have is for the SES Freedom Line Solar RV Charger Kits 2,3,4,5 & 7.
Based on the specs the rated power is from 5 watts to 50 watts depending on the system.  We¹ll be taking our first trip this weekend but we¹ll have hookups the entire time.  I plan to test the system soon and I¹ll report back my findings.  So far, whenever the sun is out, the LEDS are full scale reporting that the coach battery is fully charged.

Kent,
Showing up with a stack of $100's has long been great way to negotiate a good price. It just doesn't work so well at the LD factory - - though with the economic downturn, who knows? (g)
I just purchased a couple of new Trek mountain bikes (paid w/ check though). The bike shop was more'n happy to let me have them for 20% off list. I could have tried harder, but he needs to make a living too.

"the rated power is from 5 watts to 50 watts depending on the system."
A solar panel in that range can keep your house battery charged while the coach is in (uncovered) storage, but even 50 watts won't go very far when you're dry camping... so keep your expectations modest.
Still, any solar power is a lot better than none at all. :-) And you could always add panels, as I did on my 1985 LD:

"whenever the sun is out, the LEDS are full scale reporting that the coach battery is fully charged."

Unfortunately, those LEDs aren't telling you the battery is fully charged--merely that there's power coming in from your solar panel.
The fact that when the sun goes behind a cloud, the LED reading drops, and then it jumps back up when the cloud passes, proves the LEDs don't really give you an accurate reading of the battery's charge state.
The sad truth is that those LEDs are only accurate when the batteries have been idle (no power going in or out) for at least half an hour to an hour. In other words, if you get up at 3:00 a.m. and don't turn on any lights, you can get an accurate reading. The rest of the time, take what you see with a big grain of salt. To get accurate readings of battery state, you'd need a Link-10, XBM or similar battery monitor.

It looks like SES Applied Power has moved to Rocklin, near Sacramento, CA.
Is this the outfit?

Bumper since you named me in your response and I feel like you are inferring that I took advantage of someone, I will respond.

Kent,
You absolutely did take my post in the wrong way. There was nothing in my post, not in print, nor inferred between the lines, that was intended convey that you did anything wrong in making a proper bargain to purchase your LD at less than the asking price. Heck, bargaining is as American as, um, er, deficit spending.
In essence, I was simply agreeing with you and pointing out the realities of the market place, expecially in these economic times.
BTW, the two bikes I purchased were special ordered, not in stock.  the shop would not have ordered them at a loss. Mark-up, at retail, is often on the order of 100% for hard goods, but I think items like better quality bicycles are on the order of 40% or so. Accessories have an even higher mark-up, of course.
I can see how you might have mistaken my intent when I said, "I could have tried harder . . ." but I think that's still a stretch.
Okay, now the important part. I'm sorry you were offended, Kent, that was certainly not my intent.

You must be new around here.
Bumper has been subjecting us for years to his tongue-in-cheek humor.
After re-reading both postings, I really do not see an insult.
I think most of us would agree that showing up with cash (or a cashier check) in hand is a great way to speed up a deal and get the best price. I have done it myself a few times .

Anyway, congrats on your purchase and welcome to the cult.
Stay away from the Kool-Aid.
