Florida Keys State Park Campgrounds

Someone asked for a "review" of the four Keys state parks.
Here is my opinion. Others will undoubtedly, have a different take on things.

From north to south:
John Pennekamp; The major attraction here is the drive boats that go out to the most amazing reefs. Nice swimming beach. Good kayaking but the near shore scenery is mostly houses. The campground itself is just OK. A few blocks from the water. Key Largo has a good selection of shops & restaurants.
Long Key: Every site is located directly on the ocean. What a view. At high tide you're maybe 10' from the waters edge. Snorkel/kayak right from your campsite. Traffic noise from the highway is audible.

Curry Hammock. Some of the campsites are directly on the ocean. The others are very nearby. Most sites have at least a view of the ocean.
Good swimming & kayaking. Near Marathon. Nice selection of restaurants & shops.
Bahia Honda: The closest park to the Conch Republic. The best swim beach in the Keys. Good snorkeling. Rental boats. Good kayaking. The campground is OK. Nothing real special. There are a few water view sites but not many.

From mid-December until April, then again during Spring Break, reservations are a must. A year in advance in most cases. People go to the Keys year after year and reserve the same prime site a year in advance. There are a handful of walk-in sites.
All of these parks have large day use areas with plenty of RV parking.
