Digital converter advice....yes, I'm slow, and a TV problem. January 31, 2009, 09:40:05 am Yahoo Message Number: 98938I need some advice about digital converter boxes, I want one that will be suitable for the LD and work with 12 volt as well as AC. I realize this has probably been discussed but I couldn't find what I needed to know in the data base. What I need to know are converter box models that will work with the analog set in a 2001 LD. I see that Wingard has one, available through Camping World, and I've seen mention of a model: Arte T3AP. Does anyone have any recommendations about converter boxes? Also, on the topic of the TV, a problem, It shuts itself off after just a few minutes of play and then you can't turn it back on for awhile. It does this whether on shore power or 12 volt.(Maybe I DO need to replace it) Any thoughts on that one? Thanks for any help.Bonnie Jacobs 2001 MB here in ice incrusted Lexington, KY[Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

I don't know how to change it. The power plug has a spring-loaded plunger to pick up 12-v. If that gets sticky the power drops out. Squirt a dash of wd-40 into the plug end.Good luck John

When CRT sets get older and collect dust on the back of the picture tube and high-voltage circuit components, they begin to get arc-over from these components to ground. Sometimes you'll hear some crackling or spitting sounds, sometimes not. Protection circuits will eventually kick in to try to keep components from failing. A good service shop can clean out the set, but sometimes components have prematurely aged from the stress and will still cause problems. This would be a good time to get a new LCD flat-screen. No need then for a converter box, and no high-voltage circuits to cause problems down the line.Steve
