Eastern US Campground POI list

I've just posted in the Files > Destinations section a file called "CG_east_POI.xls".  This is a file containing locations of 1800 public campgrounds east of the Mississippi River.  It includes federal, state, county, municipal, and other public entities such as TVA.  It includes latitude, longitude, facility name, and state.  You should be able to import it as is into most GPS systems.  Or you may have to convert it to another file format.

I compiled this list by combining several different POI lists, and then scrubbing it to eliminate duplicates.  Although I looked up most of them to try to verify that they were indeed campgrounds and to verify locations, I cannot guarantee the accuracy of each entry.
I have the data for the rest of the country which I hope to eventually post.  In the meantime, if any east-coasters know of any little local public campgrounds, please pass that info to me and I'll add it to the file.

Garry,

Look at this link to learn about adding these POI to your Nuvi:
 http://home.comcast.net/~ghayman3/garmin.gps/pagepoi.02.htm#loading

This site describes how things are done in great detail.  The site's flaw is that it tells you more than you might want to know. :)
Basically, you can take Ted's file into your spreadsheet program and then export the data to a CSV file.  This file can then be loaded into your Nuvi using Garmin's FREE loader.

And Ted, thanks for a great job!!!
