Nuvi GPS question

If you have a Nuvi GPS unit, how do you search for a campground?
I was trying to see how that might work on my daughter-in-law's Garmin Nuvi 265WT and it didn't do what i expected.  Clicking on "Where to?" and then "Lodging" immediately lists hotels and motels.  On my old Garmin IQ3600 when I select Lodging, I first get to pick a sub- category of Campground/RV Park.

Alex on our 750 it goes as follows: where to > points of interest > attractions > park/garden

That will bring up state and national parks.
On the 750 you can also download points of interest files from places like POI Factory here http://www.poi-factory.com/poifiles
I found files there for Wal Mart and Sams plus state and federal parks plus lots more.

Hi Alex,
The Nuvi series are not nearly so robust when it comes to campgrounds as is the Street Pilot series. There's no way to separate campgrounds from hotels, as there was on my SP 2620, making the Points of Interest method very frustrating.
So, with my Nuvi 750 I first went to Garmin's website and downloaded their tiny POI loader program to my laptop.
Then I went to the POI Factory, poi-factory.com, and downloaded files to my laptop that included all the Good Sam parks in the US and Canada, all the KOA campgrounds and all the state parks in Florida.
There are all kinds of files of RVing interest there. Finally I transferred the files to the Nuvi using the Nuvi's USB cable and Garmin's POI loader software.

My campground files now appear at: Where to?>Extras>Custom POI's.

I'd be glad to demonstrate at Hanna Park in March.

See you soon.

With our NUVI, campgrounds are listed under 'recreation' - not 'accomodations'. We usually do not stay at private parks, but had little trouble finding public sites the few times we used it for that search.

Alex,

After I click Lodging, the Spell button is displayed on my Nuvi screen. I click that, then I spell "RV." That brings up all the parks with RV in their name. If those results don't satisfy me, I'll back up and spell "camp." That returns all the parks with any variation of the word, such as camping, campground, etc. To return only state parks, I type "state." This method works for me.
I also use the spell method to find a particular store in the Shopping category. Select All Shopping and the Spell button is displayed; click it, and spell what you're looking for; i.e., Costco, Trader Joe's, etc. The database is truly amazing.

Jeanne's handy method doesn't appear to work with some other GPS units.   For example my neighbor just got a Mio GPS. If I search for POI's and type "RV", it will find only locations that beg
