Directions Laughlin, NV to Port Orford, OR

We'll be leaving Mission, TX in a couple weeks. Taking a slow trip to the Cape Blanco Lighthouse where we'll be volunteering come April first.
We would welcome directions from Laughlin, NV to there. We plan on leaving Laughlin the middle of March and want to avoid freezing temperatures and snow. We are pulling a 32' New Horizons fifth wheel.
We came close to buying a Lazy Daze, but thought for what we want to do a fifth wheel would better suit us. We heard about the New Horizons on this news group and love it.

Thank you,

Al and Pat Mission, TX

If it were *us,* we'd probably head up US-95 to at least Tonopah.  From there, you have a couple of different routes:

1) Continue on US-95 all the way to Winnemucca, or
2) From Tonopah, go a little bit east and catch SR-376 north to US-50, US-50
to Austin, and SR-305 to Battle Mountains and then west on I-80 to Winnemucca.
Both of these routes are good, but the second route might be a little iffy in March...just check the weather.
From Winnemucca, we would continue north on US-95 to SR-140 and take SR-140 all the way to Medford, OR.  From there, there's really no quick and easy way of getting to Port Orford on the coast, but I'd recommend going north on I-5 to SR-42 (Exit 119) and SR-42 to US-101.  You'll then have to go south on US-101 to Port Orford.
Or, alternatively, from Grants Pass, you could take US-199 to US-101 at Crescent City, CA and head north on US-101 to Port Orford.
I'm not sure you'll be able to entirely miss freezing temperatures and/or snow during the middle of March...depends a lot on how harsh this winter turns out to be...and so far, it doesn't look good.  Of course, you could play it safe and get over to I-5 as soon as you can and head north.  You still might not miss freezing temperatures and snow, but at least you'll know the roads will be plowed quickly.

Al and Pat,
I think this depends on what you've seen before and what you'd like to see on this trip.
Google Maps says, roughly, I-40 to Barstow, CA-58 to Bakersfield, I-5 to Tracy, I-580 into the Bay Area and then US-101 north into Oregon. So that's probably quickest/easiest and 101 through northern California and Oregon is quite scenic.
That wouldn't be a bad time of year to enjoy the California coast or Gold Country on your way. If you prefer the coast I'd cut west from Bakersfield on CA-46 to Cambria and then head north on CA-1 through Big Sur to Monterey, Santa Cruz and SF, then continue north on CA-1 until it joins US-101

Thank you for all the suggestions. At this time the route through Redwood country sounds the most interesting. One of the places I've wanted to visit.

Thanks again,
