Re: Is LDs phone line obsolescent? Reply #25 – December 12, 2008, 03:55:40 am Yahoo Message Number: 97841Hi Alex, Great point concerning the obsolescent LD phone line. I'd like to see the position on the outside socket used for a new RG-6 cable, which would run up to the TV area. The purpose of this cable would be to connect an external satellite TV dish antenna. On my previous RV, when the roof top satellite antenna was blocked by trees, I ran a RG-6 cable out the window to the portable external satellite TV dish antenna. The only problem with throwing a cable out the window is weather, bugs, and security. A half opened window is an invitation trouble at night or when one is away from one's RV. So, using the outside connection next to the TV cable connection would be a perfect replacement for the old telephone connection. By the way, this summer my daughter moved from Salisbury to Shelby, North Carolina, so now we won't have to face the Charlotte I-85 traffic when we come to visit anymore. Additionally, since Shelby is about 15 miles North of Gaffney, SC we can refuel at the Wal-Mart (Murphy Gas)

I mounted a connector in my propane compartment and then drilled a hole up through the floor into the front-left corner of the coach. I used one of those through-the-wall wire plugs and sealed the bottom (exterior) part of it. Now I merely open the propane compartment, pull the wire up through the bottom of the open space and screw it into the connector. Then I can fully close the compartment door when it's connected. You can see details at:Satellite SystemMy rig is a FL, but I would imagine there must be some place on your rig where you could do something similar.Ted H.'02 FL Ne-12@ Kings Bay Submarine Base, GAPosted by: "Rollin Thunder"Great point concerning the obsolescent LD phone line. While we do enjoy well-done state and federal lands, our profile skews more to the private well-done RV parks (because we are nothing more than RV weenies). I must admit to not only having phone jacks in our 2006 26.5 MB, but also having disconnected our landline at our Maine home base in favor of 2 cells...as well as requiring The Pilot call me on a not-infrequent basis so that I may locate my "errant" cellphone...which works if I remembered to turn it on. Do you want to join the Habitat for Humanity group for Thanksgiving Dinner? I think it can still be arranged. Send me an email at your convenience. Best, David and Nola

Hope you have thrown off the "Lumpuckeroo" which infested itself
