Jon n Loni.
Your Vespa photos and Blog stories brought back many fond memories.
Saw my first Vespa while hitchhiking thru Europe as a young man. Was very impressed to see an Italian family of four riding up mountains.
Brought my first one in 1968 as my main transformation for the following thirteen years in the Carmel, CA. area with great trips down the Big Sur Coast.  It had unbelievable first gear power that gave it the capability of climbing just about any paved hill. The 250cc engine made it freeway legal and I always felt it had sufficient power to make me feel comfortable being there. During my second Vespa period I spotted a third one for sale that Bess brought. It came with a large fiberglass cargo carrier clamped to the back rack which was much handier for carrying grocery bags than on the floor between the legs.
We took these to Kansas City with us when we transferred there in the early seventies. They were great for wonderful back road exploring.
Remember seeing my first blooming Elderberry while exploring the countryside, which introduced us into making our first wine . . . but that's another story for another time. Thanks for the memories.
