where to put charge controller
Yahoo Message Number: 89011
Hi, Dennis here. Wondered if anyone could help me with placement of my new charge controller. It's a GPR 25(Go Power).I got it and a 130watt solar panel from RV Solar Elec. I was planning to put the panel just in front of the rear roof vent. Sorry, I should mention that I have a '95 26.5' rear bath. The guy at Solar Elec told me that I could either run the wire down the fridge vent (curb side), or black tank vent (driver side).  It seems to me it would be much easier to go down along the black tank vent in the closet, to the wall behind the dinet, mount the controller, facing forward, and then down to the under seat storage compartment and on into the battery compartment. The batts, (2 T-105 Trojans) are in the stock L.D. compartment. If I go down the fridge vent and mount the controller on the side of the fridge, then I have to find a path across to the batt compartment. I was told to tie into the converter (6336) where the wires go to the batteries, but I'm concerned that that might interfer with the solar charging. Shouldn't there be a direct run from controller to batts? And shouldn't the controller be as close to the batteries as possible? Sorry about this looong post.
I won't be doing any of this for a while. I'm in Iowa and it's -8 degrees tonight, snow and blowing snow. Oh, to be in California! Thanks
