Mothership response to Winegard leak
Yahoo Message Number: 88003
Dear Andy, Dick, and Friends,

I called Vince this morning and he told me that my coach was a 93' and since they didn't originally install the satelite dish (nor did I; I am the second owner) that he stands behind his reseal roof job but his warranty does not extend to a satelite dish that they didn't install. He told me that the leak is most likely coming from the gasket seal under the black cap on top. He said I should take it off and check the condition of the gasket, if worn or brittle, I should replace it. He added that he would put liquid teflon around the gasket and put the black cap back on. He warned me not to overtighten the cap. The liquid teflon product that they use starts with an "R" but he couldn't recall the name.

Since I am not that familiar with the mechanics of the dish, I plan to take it to a local RV repair place that claims to have the experience and knowledge to fix the problem. I told them what Vince had said and they seemed to be familiar with the problem.

Wish me luck and if it doesn't work, I will take it to Vince for an extra fee, assuming he will work on it because the factory, of course didn't install it.

I see Vince's point, however, it also shows me that the Mothership didn't take a hose and test the roof reseal after they resealed it.
Had they done that, most likely I would have been informed of the problem of the satelite leaking. I will be curious if Andy's thought that the leak could be coming from somewhere else and then travels to the satelite dish opening proves to be the source of my problem.
Vince was helpful, but he certainly didn't respond with, "bring it on in and let us take a look at it". Once I said that it was leaking from the satelite area, he said it was my problem to fix.
