Onan starter needs help December 24, 2007, 05:40:24 pm Yahoo Message Number: 87443yesterday for the first time, our Onan genset would not start. It sounds like the starter just spins when you press the start switch. Has anyone had this problem and what did you do to fix it? Merry Christmas to all! Mari (in Needles CA, sunny and warm)

If you're below a quarter tank, the genset won't start (to prevent you from using up all your gas and then not being able to leave your campsite).Andy Baird http://www.andybaird.com/travels/

Mari (in Needles CA, sunny and warm) Mari, this is really a "stretch," and, unfortunately requires me to reveal another one of my Stupid RV Tricks. Last winter while in the Baja, I had a one-week stretch of a similar generator problem: seems I was pressing the toggle switch in the wrong direction--Down instead of Up. I am embarrassed to admit it on this on the forum, but if it helps, then it is worth it. (So much to learn--so little time!)I hope that's all it is.Jeanne

Will post here when the problem is solved and how. Merry Christmas! Mari QuoteI have had a similar intermittant starting problem with my Onan Emerald genset
