The First Lazy Daze We Ever Saw

The time is March 3, 2005 and the place is the Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument Visitor Center. We were visiting OP in our first motor-home (a 4x4 Provan Tiger CX). Prior to buying the Tiger, our short-list had included the Sportsmobile 4x4 and the Lazy Daze.
Consequently, it was a neat coincidence to be parked just a few feet away from a gleaming Lazy Daze. Unfortunately, the proud owners were nowhere to be seen so we had to be satisfied with just waking around it for a bit.

I had actually forgotten seeing this rig at Organ Pipe until last evening when I was browsing through some old trip photos and found this image again.

You can see the rig here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/photophool/2131336133/. Perhaps it is yours.

What makes it special to us now is that on January 15, 2008, we will be taking delivery of a new 2007 RB in red. We initially arrived at the mothership planning on an MB but changed our minds. There just might be something to the influence of the subconscious even when the main memory has long since been "scrubbed".
Someday, I would like to meet the owners of this red beauty and shake their hands for the part they played in our eventual journey to the FOLD.

For those interested, I've started a "group" on Flickr where past, current and future LD owners can share any and all LD related images, stories, modifications and other experiences. The name of the group is The FOLD (Friendly Order of Lazy Dazers). Someone on this board came up with that and I really like it. I hope you don't mind my using it.
If you are already a Flickr member, please consider joining the group.
If you aren't a Flickrite, you can sign up for a totally free Frickr account and then join. Posting your pics on Flickr will have the added advantage of relieving some pressure on the photo database here in the yahoo group. You can just add a text link here in your discussion posts.
Initially, the group is public and has no "rules" other than keeping the images "camp-fire" and family friendly. If we need more rules later or need to make the group "invite only", we can do that by consensus.

As to the present, almost all of the boxes are packed, airline and motel reservations have been made and we're on the proverbial pins and needles waiting for the departure date to arrive.

Happy Holidaysto all, George and Carol Starcher

Congratulations George and Carol!  My wife Linda and I are new to the FOLD also.  We'll be picking ours up the Friday before you arrive.

Hi Dick. I hope you guys are as excited as we are.
I didn't realize I had made the photo link inoperative for most folks and have it fixed now.

Merry Christmas, George

George n Carol, The Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument photo you took of the red RB Lazy Daze is our beloved "Merlot". At the time we were not yet towing, but using, as needed, a ten dollar a day week-end rate that Enterprise Rental Cars offered - so it was an easy ID because of the maroon nylon bicycle bag Bess made to protect our 'other' form of transportation. Glad to have been such a positive element in your decision. Hope to meet you as well.

Hi George,
I joined the FOLD and would upload a picture, but I am too stupid to find the link to do it. I can upload to my own Flickr accounts, but see nothing on the FOLD page about uploading.

We just got home from spending three nights in our grand kids driveway. I added Reflixtix to all the vents, put in the cab window ones you kindly made for us, put the windshield cover on and I like to imagine that it made it a tad warmer. I do know the temperature up front with the bath door closing it off is always 10-15 degrees cooler.
Cheers, Don

That's great to know, Bill. Once we start bouncing around the country, we plan to make our whereabouts known here on the list. If we get anywhere close, please let us know. We do look forward to meeting you and Bess.

The very best of the new year to you both, George
