Replacing inside dual tire
Yahoo Message Number: 87334
Hi Ed; You will have to depend on your leveling jacks to get your tires up high enough to change the rear tires. The lug nuts retain both wheels on the axle, so the inside dual, on blocks, wouldn't safely hold up the motorhome.  I have used my Quickee levelers to stabilize my motorhome while using my 6 ton portable hydraulic jack on the rear axle. Both wheels come off at the same time,  so changing the inside dual is only a little more work than changing the outside  one.
The XPS ribs are a lot heavier than the Firestone originals  were, and lifting one onto the studs can be a challenge, but with the parking  brake on, at least the studs will stay in one place. I just replaced my seven  year old spare (never was on the ground) with the XPS and it was difficult  getting the tire onto the mounting studs on the back of the motorhome. The  bumper as a shelf was some help.
My '99 TKB came with a crank-up jack, and a long (4') handle,  with a tire iron, but I prefer to use my smaller hydraulic jack. The Ford  supplied gear driven jack is kept as a spare. I gather from comments here that  Ford stopped supplying that jack with motorhomes since 1999. Ron and Bluebelle  in San Diego.
