We just decided to go down south (Southern CA.) for Christmas and the following week. What is Joshua Tree like the end of December? Any recommendations of where to go? or stay?

Joshua Tree is a wonderful place to go camping.  The only problem is they go on the basis of first come first served.  There are no reservations!  Most times when I go, I have found a spot or found someone nice enough to share a spot.  It is such a popular place to go rock climbing that people would stake out a spot for days.  A few years ago, I saw cars left at campsites and there were nobody camping there for 4 days!  Btw, the best campsite is called Hidden Valley.  Only problem is it is a little tight for the larger RVs.
