12v Halogen Puck Lights

When we first got Cholula (2005 30TB) we didn't have a lot of problem finding 12v halogen puck lights, however in the last year or so, it seems that both Home Depot and Lowes have quit carrying them.
We're currently at Bosque del Apache, outside Soccorro, NM and today we went into a small local hardware store.   was kind of surprised to find 4 packages of 5 pucklights each for $29.99.   Two of the packages had brown casings and 2 had white.

Now we have a TON of lights in Cholula, but I thought I'd mention this just in case anyone is interested.  If so, email me at kate at cholulared dot com.
I'm not pushing these, but I know they're getting harder and harder t find.  I'm sure the ones at this store are old stock.

Kate, You are so right.
Think we bought the last set of white puck lights that Lowes in San Diego had.  I had noticed their scarcity and picked up the set even though I was not ready to install them at the time.
Do not know what happened to the supply, just glad I bought them when I did.  At the same time paid a visit to Radio Shack and got the switches and elec cord to do the install.
Once Jim and I are physically able we will put them in.  Jim's back surgery went well and now it is just a matter of time and physical therapy to see how much strength comes back to the right leg that was effected by a pinched nerve in his spine.  Looks like I will be going in for "rotator cuff" surgery so our RV improvements will have to take a back seat for now.
We did manage a wonderful Thanksgiving trip to Palm Desert.  Did some organizational stuff with the LD and enjoyed the company of great friends.  Back in San Diego now and working till Jan 15th when we both retire.
The newest addition to the LD is a Pochade Box with tri pod.  It seems "Plein Air" with canvas sizes limited to no more than 12" X 16" will let me paint and travel.  One of the first stops will be a workshop with a painter in Arizona that I admire and want to study with.
Hope all of you had a great Thanksgiving.  I came to realize recently just how much gratitude effects my over all attitude.  Why did that take me so long

Henry

Are these what you are referring to as puck lights? http://www.campingworld.com/browse/products/index.cfm?prodID=5726&src=SRQB or http://tinyurl.com/2zuqvq .
If so, we bought a set of 3 at Costco several months ago and Camping World carries them, albeit at a higher price.

Linda

No, those are battery powered LEDs

A quick search of Goggle found what Kate was referring to.
The 12-volt under counter lights have disappeared from most home centers.
It is cheaper to make them in the 120 volt version since they co not require a transformer and can use thinner wire.

Linda,
No, the ones you referenced are battery operated LED puck lights.  I like the battery ones for inside cabinets and such.
The ones I saw are halogens, the kind you hardwire into the rig, for a permanent mount.  We used one of these for over the stove (replacing the crappy little light that was there), but we've since replaced it with a 12v fluorescent fixture.

For reading and such, I prefer the halogen over the LED, but it's a personal preference.
