Parking Emergency Brake Leak November 10, 2007, 12:13:56 pm Yahoo Message Number: 85772Ken, Our Lazy Daze being an 02 Ford with 34,000 miles is out of the Ford warranty period of 3 years. When I wrote, I was confusing the Ford warranty with another vehicle we owned that had a longer drivetrain warranty. Since we never seemed to use the RV emergency brake we were entertaining the thought of not repairing it - but the idea was fleeting when the Ford Service person pointed out the damage that might occur to the adjacent driveline parts by not replacing it. So that potential cost and the safety issue were the motivating factors. Sorry for the confusion.Bill
Re: Parking Emergency Brake Leak Reply #1 – November 11, 2007, 10:06:59 am Yahoo Message Number: 85795Hi Bill. After reading the info on the emergency brake, which I use and carefully remember to let loose before starting out, I got under my rig and looked closely at the working parts. My unit is a 2002 chasis on a 2003 LD rearbath. It is nothing like the photo I got from the group showing a drain/fill plug. Mine has none. The bolts on my unit even go a different direction. I called the Ford Customer Service line and a fine man went to great length to look it up. He said that there may or may not be a filler plug as my year had some changes. His description of the location was the same as the photo on tech site. I crawled under and checked agian. Nothing. No leaks either. Brake works fine. So I will wait and see. Also I asked Ford about the extended warranty on the ABS unit. It is covered by warranty as they had possible problems. Mine has a fuse change on it, probably done when the unit was at Ford some time ago. No it is a 30 amp fuse instead of a 60. Now to deal with the cruise control unit. There is a sensor below the master cylinder with 2 wires on a switch. Both are hot as I checked them. This must be the culprit they will fuse. No leaks so far. Thanks for the info.
