We are looking for a 26 1/2' LD. Would like a Ford Diesel. Don't know for sure if they made any!! I think it would be more economical. Would be interested in what you think??

LD will make you one with a diesel...but beware of the added weight to the front axle. The availability of diesel chassis is much better than the V10 right now. Diesel versions do cost a few thousand more.
They have made them in the past, but as a special order...probably hard to find a used one. Call Steve at Lazy Daze or email them on their website http://www.lazy daze.com

Thanks for the input. Would the weight be a factor? The diesel chassis should support more weight!! Are the v10 getting" good" gas milage?

The chassis are the same for the V10 or Power Stroke diesel. The diesel option costs around $4500.
Adding the Power Stroke to the 26.5 foot chassis is not a problem since that unit has much more available payload. The diesel is not an option on the 30 footer because of the added weight. There are also some other changes with the diesel. The generator runs off of LP so you have to add weight of the tank.
JD Galant of RV Consumer Group says that if you baby the gas engine then longevity will not be an issue but if you try to speed ball it up hills then you will wear out your engine.
I plan on ordering the 30 foot IB next Feb,2001.
Can't wait! I am also touring the factory around July 19. Should be fun.

Our last 800 mile trip up many grades, in traffic, windy mountains roads yielded exactly 10 mpg in our 2000 26.5' midbath. After the trip I srill have only 1377 miles on it, so it's still in the break-in period. The V10 has, what almost feels like, endless power and improved mileage over previous engines for RVs...at least in Class C and gasoline powered.
