I notice that when I have the cruise control engaged on my 2005 30TB Lazy Daze and, with the tow/haul feature off (disengaged), the transmission will downshift in order to keep the speed from increasing on a down hill grade.  This will occur even on the modest descent associated with a freeway overpass. That may sound like normal operation but I don't think any of my automobiles have worked that way.  They always allowed the speed to increase slightly on a downgrade if it could not be held constant in the cruising gear.

When this occurs in my LD, I first experience several for and aft tugs as the unit attemps to hold the speed.  When that is unsuccessful, it downshifts to the next lower gear in order to maintain the speed.
I can override it by pressing down on the accelerator pedal and that is what I usually do when I think about it before it happens.
Obviously; this is not a major problem but I would like to know if others are having the same experience with their cruise control.

Yes, our 2005 midbath does the same when the cruise control is engaged.  I talked with the Ford people at FMCA and this is normal for the E450.
