Fiamma Levelers Revisited May 01, 2006, 11:02:05 am Yahoo Message Number: 66165I am considering ordering a set of Fiamma levelers, specifically the Magnum System. I note on their website that they have a "Jumbo" System which is intended for the dual rear wheels. Has anyone any experience with the Jumbo Fiamma leveler? Re: [Life With A Lazy Daze RV] Fiamma Levelers Revisited Reply #1 – May 01, 2006, 02:23:14 pm Yahoo Message Number: 66194Chris, For our rear duals it would take a ramp almost twice as wide as those are. I think those are made for the smaller tires of European RVs. The other problem is that the Fiamma's tend to slide forward on asphalt. Without a level area to stop on, it would be a lot harder to keep them from sliding.-- Jonna in Tortuga, 2001 Teal RB Find us MAPhttp://map.datastormusers.com/user2.cfm?user=1013> Follow the BLOG herehttp://www.baddog.com/blog/blog.html>

The Jumbo ramps are only ten inches wide. I don't know what Fiamma thought these would be used for, but Jonna is correct in saying that on a Lazy Daze or other American vehicle, you'd still need one ramp per wheel! The Jumbos would work, but they'd be a waste of money. If you're buying Fiamma ramps, you want either Level System Magnum or Level Up--the ones labeled as being 20 cm. wide. The Level System Standard ramps are too narrow at 14.5 cm.--your tires' sidewalls will be damaged by hanging over the edges of the ramp. "The other problem is that the Fiamma's tend to slide forward on asphalt." I ran into that problem once or twice. I solved it by buying a cheap rubber doormat at Wal- Mart--the kind with big lugs molded into it--and cutting it into 9"-wide strips that fit under each ramp. Put the lug side downward, set the ramp on top and drive onto it--no more skidding problems! And the strips roll up pretty compactly for storage.Andy BairdCity of Rocks State Park, NM

Lynx levelers (not the yellow cheapos from CW that crack and split) are a only a tiny bit more "work" to stack and line up, but they stay where they're placed and don't need to be blocked. YMMV.Joan

I place my Fiamma Level up ramps on a 2 x 10 board slightly longer that the ramp and beveled at one end with a screwed and glued piece of 1 x 1 on the other end to act as a stop. Once the tire hits the beveled plank the board does not skid and ramp will not move because of the block at the other end, Plus, another 2" of height from the plank. Has worked well so far.Joe Hamm

They are small pieces of the same plastic that attach to the front of the levels. Usually what will work for us is to put one of the lynx levelers in front of the Fiamma but on gravel it's really tough.-- Jonna in Tortuga, 2001 Teal RB Find us MAPhttp://map.datastormusers.com/user2.cfm?user=1013> Follow the BLOG herehttp://www.baddog.com/blog/blog.html>[Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

My experience has been different--perhaps because of the doormat I chose, which has big, aggressive lugs. I'm parked on a sand/gravel mix right now, and the mat strips worked fine with my Fiamma Levelup ramps. I agree that Lynx levelers also work well, and they do give you more flexibility than ramps. On the other hand, they take up more storage space per inch of height gained--because with leveling blocks, you must essentially build a two-way ramp for each tire, so the bulk of the blocks required to reach a given height is roughly twice the bulk of an equivalent-height ramp. It's a trade-off, as with many things. :-)Andy BairdCity of Rocks State Park, NM

If you get these, I think what you want is the Jumbo rather than the Magnum...I'm not sure the Magnum is wide enough to support the entire footprint of the tires on your LD. What we got was the Level Up Plus (Item 97901-33) and the chocks (Item 97901-046). They have a higher rise that either the Magnum's or the Jumbo's.Linda Hylton2004 Red 23.5' TK http://map.datastormusers.com/user1.cfm?user=1167 http://earl-linda.blogspot.com/
