CB advice follow up March 29, 2006, 07:04:37 pm Yahoo Message Number: 64734I asked for advice about my CB in msg 64648 QuoteWhen I turn it on it scans the channels. No matter what I do with the tuning knob, it keeps right on scanning. And now I can follow up to Art O'Fossil's questions in msg 64650: QuoteFirst thing is to find out what make and model CB was installed. It's a Cobra 19 DXIII installed by LD with the '01 coach. The manual does not mention scanning, so I guess the CB is "out of spec".I sort-of recollect that it's always been this way (I never got serious about using it).I was hoping to be a good citizen at the Cheyenne outing QuoteWhen you come to a Caravan Club gathering, you really need a CB. but it's not looking good :- John

I would wonder if you have an internal short circuit that is making it continually 'scan". Faced with a similar problem I would probably disconnect it from the power supply, open the case, check visually for any obvious problem, blow out the inside with a can of compressed air, and try it again. If it still wouldn't work, I'd probably replace it. The last time I had a problem with an electronic device, it was cheaper to buy a new one than pay the shop fee to have the old one repaired. I'm sure the electronic experts in this group can weigh in on this and be of more help. Will

Have you unplugged the microphone? Maybe as Will suggested, there might be a problem in the microphone. Stuck "Up and Down keys" are not uncommon. If you don't have a manual to see how to set it up, then you are in deep "kimchie."If you need to purchase a new one check out the following sites:http://www.buyreliant.com/ http://www.copper.com/ http://www.bills2way.com/index.htmlRegards,Rubin

This models doesn't appear to have an intentional scan mode. But in playing with it, if I hold the channel selection knob 1/2 way between "clicks", IT SCANS through the channels! Sounds like there is a problem with your channel selection knob. It might well be worth opening up the unit and see if anything is obvious.Art

If breaking the squelch doesn't stop the scan it's got a problem.
