LD Shower skylight question September 17, 2005, 07:03:37 pm Yahoo Message Number: 58106On our 2001 LD Mid Bath shower skylight, the outer skylight portion is held on with three screws on its front vertical edge and three screws on its back vertical edge. (looking at this from the rooftop, of course.) The sides of the skylight outer cover that is parallel to the sides of the coach have no attachments. It appears that the skylight outer cover has a gap up under those sides. This looks like it (can has mighthave does could) let in wind driven water or, hose water used to wash the roof.Do all your LD shower outer skylight covers have a tight fit in the above areas?Don McG

I have even had to replace mine (I stepped through it when I lost balance on the roof) and all I had to be careful of was filling up the two large grooves with sealant, which the factory provided. I never heard of anyone having leakage.Gus Weber

If yours is leaking, I am sure you can get one from the factory. I frankly don't remember if I used the old one or a new one came with the new skylight cover when I replaced mine.Good luckGus Weber

On our 2001 MB, the outer piece is attached to the main skylight and base with six screws and there appears to be open spaces up under the flange of the outer piece on the two sides where there are no screws. Place your fingers on the sides (the parts with no screws) and see if you can't feel the edge of a rubber seal up there. I can. I also see a lightened white line through the translucent cover.Hope this helpsGus

Get a hose up there and do your best to squirt it under the unscrewed sides. If you have no leakage into the shower, you have a seal!Good luckGus Weber

If you have no leakage Good luck Gus Weber Thanks for the detail info on the Skylight gasket, Gus - Just what I needed to diagnose without taking things apart. (By the way, isn't useing a garden hose to see if the skylight leaks something like opening a seaward water valve to see if a submerged sub has water outside?)Turns out there is a white gasket and - that it is 'sort of' tight on the fwd-aft sides of the skylight. It is about as tight as the cab door weatherstrip. That is enough to stop small splashing but definitely not enough to stop hose fed water directly at the base of the skylight. Looks to me like I've another project on the list.Thanks again, Don McG
