Refrigerator question
Yahoo Message Number: 58100
Hello good people. I have a 1984 LZ. The refrigerator is suppose to be 3 way, which is electricity, propane and battery. When I don't have it plugged into electricity shouldn't the battery just light the propane and then the propane takes over and works the refrigerator? The auxiliary battery keeps running down and the only thing running is the refrigerator.

If you can help please email me at   I thank you.

Anytime the refrigerator is operating (using 120VAC, 12VDC or propane), the refrigerator's control board is consuming 12 VDC power.
Without some way of recharging the battery, it will discharge with a week or two, depending on battery capacity and charge level.
Some of the very early RV refrigerators did not use 12 VDC power. They required hand lighting of the burner. Power for the propane gas valve was supplied by a thermocouple, heated by the pilot light.
As far as I know, they are not produced any more.
To cure your problem, the battery needs to be kept charged by plugging the RV into a source of 120 VAC, operating the engine or generator or by adding sufficient solar panels.

Thanks Larry, That answerd my question. I had an older RV that had the older unit that I lit by hand and it stayed lit as long as there was propane.
I'm going to see what I can find
