We are planning to install s.m.i. play & stay brake system on the toad (scion xa)and Demco aluminator tow bar.  Any comments (pro or con) would help.  Ordering our Lazy Daze 9/20.

The Blue Ox Aventa tow bar we have is called the "marriage saver." Kathleen and I are still together...

We (well, ok, my husband) installed the SMI S&P braking system on our '00 Jeep Cherokee.  We have had it on for atleast 25000 miles and feel that it has helped considerably (helped us avoid a head-on with a car and another with two less-than-brilliant mule deer) plus it has been absolutely trouble-free and is unobtrusive when you're driving the Jeep.

'Can't comment about your towbar choice.  We have a standard Blue Ox, which is heavy, but only noticable when we remove it from the LD... we chose it for several reasons, not the least of which is the fact it folds up to the rear of the LD when it's not in use.... we didn't want to drag around the towbar on the front of the toad when disconnected from the LD.

That's a good point about Blue Ox.  In addition, their base plate is designed so the tow connections on our Element are hardly noticable when driving it.  Other tow systems might do as well but I have no knowledge of that.

 Most, if not all, of the major tow bar manufacturers have a system whereby the tow bars stay on the motorhome rather than the toad.  Our ReadyBrute tow bars stay on the motorhome, too.
