Keeping Cool in a 30 Footer September 09, 2005, 09:05:36 pm Yahoo Message Number: 57886When we were in Ontario for the last few weeks, the weather was horribly hot and we used our air conditioner a lot. We noticed that even with the vents/fins turned down, a great deal of the cold air still went right into the shower and the bathroom. The shower has the grilled opening and the bathroom door has a 3 or 4 inch gap at the top. At the peak of the heat, I went into the bathroom and was amazed that it was actually a bit chilly! To keep some of the cool air in the coach, we put a towel over the shower door, which pretty much stopped that, and finally rolled a large towel and stuffed it into the top of the bathroom door. Both of these worked well, but left a lot to be desired aesthetically (and the rolled up towel fell down every time we opened the bathroom door!). So we were thinking of taking a couple of tension rods that fit each opening and making a small curtain for these areas, but before I did, I was wondering if anyone had any better experiences/suggestions?Kate in Serenity the Red 30TB

That has never bothered us before. If it's too cold we turn the a/c down or off. A bigger issue was/is too much cold air coming into the bedroom at night because the a/c unit is right in front of the bedroom. I decided to do what you mentioned, i.e., use a small tension rod with a curtain-like cloth on it, hung between the shower and toilet room so as to deflect the cool air flow - so it wouldn't be blowing directly on us. Shutting the diffuser doesn't work for us as it then eliminates most of the cool air and defeats the purpose of leaving the a/c on.Chris Horst 2002 IB Denver

We have the RB and thought that the bathroom door had the appearance of a stall door in a public restroom. On our's, the a/c air path was not an issue but the aesthetics and privacy were. I placed a painted board against the ceiling, screwed and glued it and then a small piece of 1/4 round trim to finish it off. It came out looking as though the factory had done it and we are very happy with it. You may check the "Photos" file, in the folder labled "Upholstery-trim changes '04. It is the 7th of 7 photos there. We also took down our Ultra suede valances and installed smaller wooden ones, painted white and those photos are there also.Best wishes,Tom RileyFort Bragg, CA '04 26 RB
