Small table extension for FL
Yahoo Message Number: 57808
I've posted some pix of a new, smaller table extension I made for our FL on my web site.  The LD-provided extension was too big and too heavy.  My design is for one person to use sitting on the sofa, it is easily put into position, and is small enough to quickly stow behind one of the chairs.

Under the "Lazy Daze Topics" pull-down menu, choose "LD Enhancements".

Nice idea, you can never have enough horizontal surface area. The big extension that LD supplies with the FL is cumbersome and rarely used.
I like the drawer pull idea; simple and cheap.
Its good to have someone else with a 23.5' Fl that is actively improving things. I have enjoyed viewing your site and have been inspired to used several of your ideas in our LD.

Did you use 1/2" plywood for the extension table?
Instead of storing the table behind the seat, have you considered just sliding it under the couch cushion? I have fill the area behind the seats with storage boxes with the flip up extension tables so that space is not available in our LD.

Thanks, Larry,
Yes, it's made with 1/2" plywood.  After I posted the page, it dawned on me that I should have given the dimensions.  As for storing it, you may have a good idea to put it under the cushion.  We haven't been out since I finished it, so we'll probably end up trying different places to stow it.  Another possibility is in one of the wardrobes, like the big, heavy original extension.
Those storage cabinets behind your chairs are really slick.  A couple of questions: how far out from the wall do the boxes come?  And do I gather that there is no top for the boxes when the table top is down in the travel position?  Guess I need to get back to the workshop!
